drink some Grapefruit juice. gout basically is the build up of uric acid. i.e eating too much meat; refered to as the rich man's disease, now that more people are able to eat meat gout is more common. clear up the uric acid.

you can try a bunch of different herbals like cayenne powder mixed with enough wintergreen oil to make a paste.Then apply it to the areas for the pain and inflammation.It might sting a bit at first but, it works. I've even heard that honey bee venom works wonders too. and,they make a Bee Venom Balm so, you don't have to go get a shot every time. hope this helps

Purines are substances found in foods which when broken down form uric acid. Purine rich foods to avoid with gout include:
Offal (e.g. kidneys, tripe, liver).
Red meats.
Shellfish, fish roe and scallops.
Pulse foods including peas lentils and beans.
Gout - low purine foods : people with gout should eat more raw fruit, vegetables, grains, seeds and nuts. Cherries and strawberries are recommended. Uric acid and vinegar based foods should be avoided.
Reduce alcohol intake.
Alcohol especially taken in the form of beer and wine can increase uric acid levels. The purine levels beer and wine are related to gout flareups. Limit alcoholic drinks to one or two measures a day. Drinking plenty of water helps prevent further attacks.
Also, consider celery seed extract in capsule form, or tart cherry extract.

my grandpas got gout. You need to stay away from salt. And you need to take omega-3 pills. Or eat some fish perticuly (salmon) has lots of omega-3
